A member of the Llandudno Sailing Club has been recognised for his dedication to the sport with a special award.
Rob Davies, 80 years old, has been rewarded with an RYA Cymru Wales Impact Award for his 40 years of service in the sailing club.
The Impact Awards are presented by RYA Cymru Wales, the governing body of the sport in Wales.
They award outstanding individuals and organisations, recognising their contribution towards creating an inclusive Welsh boating and sailing community.
Mr Davies from Abergele has been an active member of the Llandudno Sailing Club for over four decades.
Despite his age, he still takes part in races on Wednesday evenings and weekends.
Over the past year, he has secured several second places in various club competitions.
In nominating Mr Davies, fellow club member and former club secretary Ruth Brown said: "Rob is a regular at work parties throughout the year and was very on hands during the building of our extension.
"He is always ready to help the less experienced sailors and is an inspiration to the younger members."
Mr Davies' sailing career began in the early 1980s with windsurfing off the coast of Colwyn Bay.
His transition to the Llandudno Sailing Club was after attending an open club day.
He was inspired by the clubhouse's location by the waters' edge and decided to join the club, originally with the intention of windsurfing.
However, after witnessing dinghies pass him on light wind evenings, he decided to invest in a boat.
He shifted to singlehanded Laser/ILCA dinghy racing in 1995 and has since become a club committee member.
Before his retirement, Mr Davies worked as a principal design engineer at Thales Optics in St Asaph.
Mr Davies said: "I like to help out with work parties and meeting and greeting visitors to the club.
"When I realised that I’d been nominated for an RYA Cymru Wales Impact Award I was blown away because I’m not the only one who does things, it’s a real team effort at the club."
As well as helping out at the club, Mr Davies also enjoys the stunning location.
He said: "When you’re on the water and look back at the shore, you’ve got the Great Orme and Little Orme, all the hills in the background plus the row of hotels in the foreground."
