CONWY Borough have boosted their attacking options late in the January transfer window with the signing of Alex Roberts from Llandudno.
The forward arrives at the Tangerines with a reputation as one of the best young talents anywhere in the region and will bolster a frontline that already consists of plenty of firepower including JD Cymru North top scorer Corrig McGonigle.
Roberts is no stranger to Borough boss Matthew Jones, with the pair working together last season at Maesdu Park and the manager is hopeful this familiarity will enable the player to hit the ground running once training sessions and permitted to resume by the Welsh Government and Football Association of Wales.
Jones, said: “I am delighted to be bringing Alex into the group we have at Conwy.
“We worked with Alex last year and were very impressed and excited with his potential and attitude towards the game.
“We believe that Alex will fit in really well with what we are working towards here and are looking forward to see him develop with us.”
Roberts is looking forward to linking up once again with Jones, with Borough’s expansive style of play one of the deciding factors in his decision to make the move from Sean Eardley’s side.
“I can’t wait to start playing football again and I’m delighted to have been given the opportunity by Matty to play for Conwy Borough,” he added.
“I believe I fit into the style of exciting football that we hope to play this coming season.”
Jones has worked exceptionally hard on building a squad that is more than capable of competing in the JD Cymru North, which was set to get underway in a 15-game format before the latest lockdown came into effect.
