MOCHDRE picked up derby bragging rights thanks to a six-wicket home win over Conwy.
The North Wales Cricket League Group A rivals found runs hard to come due to perfect bowling conditions throughout, but the hosts managed to prevail against the Division One champions in comfortable fashion.
The visitors made a strong start to their innings with Shaun Davies and Rajjenu Britto scoring 20 apiece from the opening positions.
Wicketkeeper-batsman Danny Davies was also in tremendous form on his way to a 41 knock, but this form was not replicated by the rest of the batting order.
Only Philip Michael Davies (10) and Graham Meredith (10*) managed to make it into double figures during the remainder of their time at the crease, leaving the away side on 146-9 from their 40 overs.
A strong all-round bowling display from Mochdre saw Sean Reilly, Kyle Brown, Mike Humphreys and Matthew Humphreys all taking two wickets each.
Things did not get off to the best start during the home side’s run chase when Sam Davies (5) and Scott Brown (9) were both dismissed quickly, but solid knocks of 38 and 35 from Alex Davies and Owen Davies tipped the scales in their favour once again.
This was followed by an unbeaten knock of 27 from James French that got them over the line, and Matthew Humphreys was also there at the end on 18 not out as the hosts reached their target for the loss of four wickets and with 14 overs to spare.
