LLANRWST United have received a welcome boost as a number of key squad members have recommitted to the club.
The Rwsters’ enjoyed one of their finest ever seasons in Lock Stock Welsh Alliance last term under Leighton Griffiths, and they will be hoping to have a similar impact next time around after receiving their Tier 3 accreditation ahead of the incoming criteria changes from the Football Association of Wales.
Gifted player Sam Thomas was one of their key contributors on his way to the Players’ Player of the Year honours, and he was agreed to stay on at United despite offers from elsewhere.
Experienced striker Luke Roberts and goalkeeper Gwydion Owen are two others that have committed, with eye-catching young prospect Cynan Edwards and defender Hedd Williams also set to be part of the squad going forward.
Skipper Tom Jones has been an instrumental figure for the club in recent years and he has penned a new deal next season, and Manager’s Player of the Year Matt Mullender will be on hand to lent his skills to their cause next term.
Chairman Chris Williams, said: “I'm delighted that these players have committed to next season.
“We as a club have worked hard behind the scenes to achieve Tier 3 status and are looking forward to next season.
“Manager Leighton Griffiths is working hard behind the scenes trying to strengthen the squad. There will be more announcements in the next few days.”
The club also announced a promising young talent will be returning to the fold, with forward Benn Lundstram joining the set-up following spells at Penmaenmawr Phoenix and Bangor 1876 last season.
The talented marksman came through the Bangor City Academy ranks as a teenager, and also gained first-team experience in the Huws Gray Alliance.
