CONWY Borough manager Matthew Jones has made a statement with three major signings.
The Tangerines confirmed the arrival of former Rhyl FC duo Rory Crowther and Tommy Creamer, with experienced defender Gerwyn Jones also joining the set-up following a stint at Llandudno.
These signings represent a significant coup for the JD Cymru North side, who are looking to build on a positive second-tier campaign last term following under Jones.
Creamer brought his game on considerably during the second half of the season on his way to a JD Cymru North Player of the Month Award, and he returns to a Borough side where he spent considerable time during the early stages of his career.
The talented midfielder, said: “It feels great and I am absolutely buzzing to be back. It was hard to leave last year but now I just can’t wait to be playing when it’s safe to do so.
“It felt right to come back to Conwy because they have a good young side that are building for the future. I already know a lot of the lads and they are quality players.
“I have worked with Matty before and am looking forward to playing under him and his management team. It will be good to be back in front of the locals at Y Morfa and hopefully I can help bring them success and also for the town of Conwy.”
Crowther is a hugely impressive goalkeeper that has also spent time working with Jones before. He is a former Wigan Athletic trainee and boasts JD Cymru experience during his time at Rhyl.
“I’m delighted to be bringing a player of Rory’s quality to the club,” added Jones.
“Having worked with him before, I know exactly what kind of quality we are getting both on the pitch and in the dressing room.
“Rory is exactly the kind of player we want to be bringing to the club to add to what is already a very settled and strong squad of players.”
Jones is a former Welsh youth international that has suffered his fair share of injury problems in recent seasons. He also makes his return to Borough after captaining the side during his first spell with the club.
“Bringing Gerwyn back to the club is a big one for me. I have worked with him at both Rhyl and Llandudno and although he had an injury interrupted campaign last season, I know exactly what he will bring to the squad,” said the boss.
“Once again he is the right kind of character that we want here. I feel this is another addition of top quality and I’m pleased that we have been able to do it.”
