CONWY Borough have made a significant addition to their boardroom with the appointment of Andy Nelson.
The hugely experienced figure joins the Tangerines’ board of directors, and he brings a substantial amount of knowhow to the table that will stand the club in good stead.
Nelson has previously worked within the English system at the likes of Leigh RMI, Chorley FC and Witton Albion.
He is a former professional player that also has a UEFA A Licence from his time as a coach.
Darren Griffiths, club director at Conwy Borough FC, said: “It’s fantastic news that Andy has joined us on the board. He has a wealth of footballing experience and know-how.
“Although he has retired from front line management, we are confident he will add great value and gravitas to the club committee.”
Plans are already being formed by Borough on and off the pitch with a view to progressing the club forward next term.
Although many expected them to take a step backwards last term, they once again achieved a respectable league finish in JD Cymru North before the season was curtailed by the Football Association of Wales due to the coronavirus pandemic.
This was despite director of football Warren Gibbs leaving his post for personal reasons during the campaign. First team manager Chris Morrell took over all the responsibility with a young squad, who more than exceeded expectations.
