LLANDUDNO Amateurs have confirmed their decision to drop down a division next season due to new criteria from the Football Association of Wales.
The Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division Two side have enjoyed a tremendous amount of success in a short space of time, securing back-to-back promotions in their first two seasons to secure a place in the fourth tier.
They have given a good account of themselves at a higher level of difficulty this term and found themselves sitting in ninth before the domestic fixture list was suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Their momentum will now be halted to their failure to meet the new regulations that are required by the FAW in time for the 2020/21 season, despite a substantial amount of hard work from club volunteers.
A statement published on the club’s Facebook account, read: “The club has quickly gone from strength to strength but now see the changes of the system have a dramatic effect.
“Over the year we have worked tirelessly to achieve our own ground and so far, have not been given the support we need while empty unused football pitches lay empty.
“This hasn't discouraged us after some time off football at the moment due to this epidemic it has made us more determined to keep doing the good work we are.
“We have now put forward more proposals to get to our aim of having a ground that will hopefully help us achieve our desire to have a junior section.
The club has been forced into making the hard decision of dropping down a division next season along with many others due to the changes of the criteria system and a place to play.
“Up until our last game it’s been a long old season but a truly enjoyable one with fantastic sides week in week out with zero drama or bitterness.
“The Welsh Alliance football has been smooth and we are gutted to see it all change. Hopefully we can finish off the season to end a decent campaign but if not, it will be remembered well as will the teams and grounds we have played at.
“We take this time to wish everyone wellness and safeness through these times.”
