LLANRWST United’s hopes of securing a tier-three licence moved another step closer this week.
The Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division One title contenders have used this period of inactivity to make some significant ground improvements ahead of the Football Association of Wales’ new criteria next season.
The Rwsters’ base at Gwydir Park is now compliant with one important part of the new regulations after seating was installed this weekend, which came after a considerable effort from club supporters and volunteers.
This is a huge boost for United, who suffered their fair share of significant flood damage last month after heavy rain battered the region.
Their ground was underwater for a considerable period of time, which is one of many such incidents at the facility in recent years.
Despite losing prolific striker Callum Parry to JD Cymru North side Colwyn Bay during the January transfer window, United still find themselves in surprise contention for the third-tier crown along with more fancied duo Holyhead Hotspur and Denbigh Town.
Welsh Alliance officials informed each club that they plan to bring the season to a successful conclusion once the fixture suspension is lifted, with the possibility of playing through June a realistic possibility.
Leighton Griffiths’ side currently sit in fourth spot and eight points behind Holyhead with a game in hand.
They are unbeaten away from home this season and find themselves level on points with Denbigh having played the same amount of games.
