LLANRWST United returned to matters on the field with a comfortable 3-1 home win over Prestatyn Sports.
The Rwsters’ picked up where they left off after significant flood damage saw their Gwydir Park base underwater following Storm Ciara, leaving them in fourth spot and level on points with third-placed Denbigh Town.
United are eight adrift of pacesetters Holyhead Hotspur with a game in hand, and Leighton Griffiths’ men will look to make further inroads this Saturday when they travel to struggling Llanrug United.
Despite the eventual result it was the visitors who started the brighter of the two sides, and they were rewarded with a shock opener on 14 minutes thanks to a fine finish from Kris Owen.
This was met by a good response from United, who got back on level terms midway through the half when a neat passage of play was finished off by Chris Nicholson with 24 on the clock.
Things went from bad to worse for the away side soon after when talented teenager Benn Lundstram, a recent signing from Gwynedd League leaders Bangor 1876, showed his class on 36 minutes to put the hosts ahead for the first time.
After the interval saw Sports’ try valiantly to get themselves back on level terms to no avail, and they were undone again late on when Nicholson pounced for his second of the afternoon on 79 minutes to round off the scoring.
