LLANDUDNO Albion’s impressive recent form continued with a 4-1 home win over Llandyrnog United.
The Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division One side showed plenty of character in gale force winds on Friday evening to come away with three points at Maesdu Park, leaving Darren Jones’ men in fourth spot and seven behind league-leading Holyhead Hotspur having played two more games.
The home side came out on the front foot and got an early reward thanks to Joel Lloyd, who extended his outstanding recent goal-scoring exploits with another well-taken finish to break the deadlock.
Things got even better for the hosts soon after when another neat spell of play presented an opportunity to Dan Evans, who demonstrated tremendous composure to put away the chance and double their advantage.
This was swiftly followed by another for Albion midway through the half, with Luke Smith conjuring up a sensational left-foot volley following a corner on 31 minutes that flew into the net and all-but seal the points in the first period.
United continued to plug away despite their deficit and the worsening conditions, and Jimmy McInally’s side were rewarded on 38 minutes when Ross Gilbert’s free kick ended up in the corner on 38 minutes to reduce the arrears.
Albion would have the final say on proceedings after the interval, and once again it was Evans who proved to be the difference between the two sides after despatching his second of the evening to complete the scoring.
Next up for Jones’ side is a home encounter against Blaenau Ffestiniog Amateurs on Saturday.
