PENMAENMAWR Phoenix remain top of Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division Two thanks to a 3-1 triumph at title rivals Gaerwen.
Martyn Jones’ side produced one of their best performances of the season to come away with a vital three points, and there was further good news for the club as championship favourites Y Felinheli were held at Pwllheli.
The visitors got off to an imposing start and went ahead after just six minutes when experienced forward Mike Lundstram found the net, but they were pegged back just before the interval through a Tim Cavanagh strike with 40 on the clock.
After the break saw Phoenix regain the upper hand on 64 minutes when prolific forward Alfie Caldecott hit the target, with a Sean Williams penalty pulling them further clear late on with two remaining.
Llandudno Amateurs turned in their finest attacking performance of the campaign to achieve a 6-1 home rout over Kinmel Bay.
A strong opening from the home side saw them break the deadlock on 13 minutes thanks to a neat finish from Ryan Rowlands, but the Bay bounced back through skipper Ashley Wood with 24 gone.
Aidan Bell turned in a chance to put Sandy Malone’s men back in front on 27 minutes, and they increased their lead on 35 when another good spell of possession was finished off by Aaron Rodgers.
After the interval saw the hosts net again on 80 minutes when Rowlands notched his second of the afternoon to secure the points, with Scott Court and Rodgers converting chances late on to round off the scoring.
A late rally from Llandudno Junction was unable to prevent a 2-1 defeat at Llannefydd.
Two goals from Luke Appleby gave the Railwaymen a mountain to climb in the second halfm and although Jack Nettleton halved the deficit on 80 minutes it was not enough for them to secure a share of the spoils.
