LLANRWST United progressed to the Barritt Cup second round with an emphatic 5-2 victory over Amlwch Town.
The Rwsters’ overcame lower league opposition with minimal fuss to book their place in the hat, and they opened the scoring on 12 minutes when Tom Jones finished off an impressive move to break the deadlock.
Town responded well and levelled matters soon after when Tom Wynne found the target, only for new signing Benn Lundstram to put United back in front with a goal on his debut with 14 on the clock.
The outstanding Leon Doran extended his excellent recent run of form with another well-taken finish on 19 minutes, but the visitors gave themselves a lifeline in first half stoppage time with a goal from Luke McGivern.
After the break saw the home side restore their two-goal cushion when Chris Nicholson converted an opportunity on 47 minutes, and they wrapped up the tie through when a Town player diverted into his own net with 20 remaining.
There was no such luck for Mochdre Sports, who bowed out of the competition despite a spirited effort in their 2-0 home reverse to Barmouth and Dyffryn United.
The home side did well to repel the Magpies during the opening 45 minutes but their resolute rear-guard eventually wilted on 54 minutes when Joe Soar took advantage of some space to open the scoring.
Sports threw everything at their opponents in the closing stages with a view to salvaging something from the tie, but they were caught on the break on 75 minutes that resulted in Ben Williams increasing their deficit at a crucial moment.
