LLANDUDNO Amateurs caused a stir at the Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division Two summit thanks to a 3-3 draw at Gaerwen.
Sandy Malone’s men turned in one of their best performances of the campaign to secure a share of the spoils against the title chasers, and they managed to take the lead early on when Martin Byast found the net with just five minutes on the clock.
This joy did not last for long as Mark Jones managed to turn in a chance to level matters on ten minutes, but the visitors responded well once again and regained the upper hand with 27 gone thanks to a fine attempt from Kyle Johnson.
Once again the home side responded swiftly courtesy of a superb strike from prolific forward Marc Evans on the half hour mark, but the Amateurs’ took the lead for the third time after the break when a neat passage of play was finished off in style by Aidan Bell.
They were unable to hold on for a memorable three points as Bryn Roberts converted on 67 minutes to ensure both sides had something to show from an entertaining affair.
Penmaenmawr Phoenix moved into second spot and level on points with league-leading Y Felinheli after a 3-1 home triumph over Barmouth and Dyffryn United.
First half goals from Mike Lundstram and Joel Hewitt gave Martyn Jones’ men a commanding advantage at the break, and despite Bobby Griffiths halving the deficit midway through the half, Phoenix clinched another hugely important win in their quest for the crown when James Burgess notched a third a minute from time.
Mochdre Sports picked up a point on their travels as they held in-form Kinmel Bay to a 1-1 draw.
A strong start from the home side saw them go close early on when a thumping effort from Kie Ellis was superbly thwarted by Ashley Dickenson at the near post, but they finally managed to break the deadlock on 42 minutes when prolific striker Matty Griffiths continued his excellent recent form in front of goal when his corner evaded everyone and sailed into the net.
This joy proved to be short lived thanks to an outstanding response from the visitors, who restored parity to the score-line on 44 minutes when Zack Gidlow reacted first to a loose ball before producing a composed finish to salvage a point.
