LLANDUDNO Amateurs have been officially crowned Vale of Clwyd and Conwy League Premier Division champions.
The all-conquering side secured back-to-back titles after another standout campaign, but an investigation was taking place regarding an incident between them and derby rivals Llandudno Athletic during an end of season fixture that could have resulted in a points deduction.
The league’s finding have not resulted in any sanctions on Sandy Malone’s side, who can now look forward to life in Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division Two to further enhance their stake as one of the fastest rising teams anywhere in the Welsh football pyramid.
Plans to expand the club have been gathering pace throughout the summer, with an Amateurs’ reserve side recently formed and will ply their trade in Vale of Clwyd and Conwy League Division One.
Steven Taylor and Gareth Sharp will lead the newly formed side, with Malone also securing the services of Llanfairfechan Town standout David Wills to boost the squad after of their upcoming fourth tier test.
Malone, said: “We now wait on the league presenting us with the title of champions after pipping our local rivals twice to both league titles.
“We now look to next season where we face a very tough Welsh Alliance Two with some excellent sides. Our aim is to give it our best go as we might be back down when the restructure happens.
“We have started a reserve side that will play under Steve, who has been a top local ref for many years and after taking a break from coaching we offered him the chance to get back into it.
“What we have done is create a back bone of players as well as adding many new faces. We hope to develop the club and keep enjoying our football here at the highest level possible we can go.
“Our new signing Dave captained the Llanfairfechan side under my management, winning a league and cup double and reaching a further two cup finals four seasons ago.”
