RGC Women produced an encouraging display before eventually falling to a narrow 15-12 loss at Scarlets.
The female Gogs opened the Regional Grade campaign with defeat but can take plenty of positives ahead of a busy series of fixtures in the coming weeks.
The visitors started the contest on the front foot but were caught with a sucker punch early on when Jasmine Joyce broke clear to touch down.
Joyce was on hand once again soon after to extend the hosts’ advantage when she finished off a sweeping move to cross the white wash for a converted score.
This provoked a strong response from the Gogs, who got themselves back into the contest through Welsh international Jess Kavanagh-Williams, who demonstrated her trademark pace to go over and reduce the arrears.
After the break saw the away side continue to ask questions of the Scarlets rearguard, and they were rewarded for their constant pressure when Gwenllian Pyrs dotted over to make it a two-point game.
Bethan Davies held her nerve to drill over the conversion and tie things up.
Despite having the momentum, it was the home side who took home the spoils with a penalty late on to ensure RGC had nothing to show for their efforts despite a tremendous display.
