It has been announced that Piers Morgan will be joining the newly formed talkTV channel by News UK.

News UK plan to have the channel offer a mix of programming, from hourly news bulletins, sports and entertainment shows, debates and documentaries.

Morgan will join News Corp and FOX Media as part of this deal where he will launch a new TV show in early 2022.

He will also join the Sun and New York Post as a columnist, as well as present a series of True Crime documentaries.

In a tweet announcing his move, Morgan said it was “great” to return to work for Rupert Murdoch.

He added: “The place I started my media career, with the boss who gave me my first big break. We’re going to have a lot of fun….”

Giving a more detailed look at what he wanted to accomplish in the role, he spoke to News UK about his hopes for the future.

“I want my global show to be a fearless forum for lively debate and agenda-setting interviews, and a place that celebrates the right of everyone to have an opinion, and for those opinions to be vigorously examined and challenged,” he said.

Morgan has been out of work since quitting Good Morning Britain in March due to controversy surrounding his comments about Meghan Markle.

He was later cleared by Ofcom for the remarks.

Rupert Murdoch, Executive Chairman of NewsCorp, was pleased to have Morgan on board.

He said: “Piers is the broadcaster every channel wants but is too afraid to hire. Piers is a brilliant presenter, a talented journalist and says what people are thinking and feeling.

“He has many passionate fans around the world and we look forward to expanding his audience in the UK, at FOX Nation, Sky News Australia, The Sun and the New York Post.”
