A QUARTET of youngsters at a weightlifting club in Llandudno have been named in the Welsh development squad.
Bryn Astrop, Seamus Leonard-Thomas (both 17), Mia Evans (15) and Della Pemberton (13) are all members of Diamond Weightlifting, based on James Street.
Nia Roberts, Diamond Weightlifting head coach, shared her pride in all four of them following their call-ups.

She said: “A massive congratulations to Della Pemberton for being the youngest athlete selected to participate in the Welsh development squad; a huge achievement at just 13.
“We’d also like to congratulate Mia Evans on her development squad selection, and further congratulations on her recent performance for Wales at the Celtics Championship, where she also attained a Welsh record.
“A massive congratulations to Seamus Leonard-Thomas on his continued selection into the Welsh development squad, and good luck to him as he attempts to qualify for his first international.
“Lastly, another massive congratulations to Bryn Astrop on his continued selection into the squad, a further congratulations also for his recent performance representing Wales at the Celtic Championships where he also set a Welsh record.
“We would also like to wish Bryn good luck as he attempts to qualify for the Commonwealth Championships being held in Fiji later this year.”
Diamond Weightlifting is an after-school club for those younger than 18 which opened in 2019.
In the five years since it opened, it has achieved two international athletes, four international development athletes, 10 North Wales development squad members, and multiple Welsh records, and British and Welsh champions.
Nia added: “As a club, we are immensely proud of these four individuals.
“They have worked incredibly hard and are a perfect example of what we stand for as a club.”
