A WOMAN from Llandudno was left confused after she received a letter last month regarding tax credits from 2015.
Amelia Azevedo said she had “no idea” why she was sent such a letter from His Majesty’s Revenue and Customs (HMRC), and was concerned that she had outstanding taxes to pay.
The letter, shown to the Pioneer, showed that Ms Azevedo had received £691.31 of working tax credit between April and October 2015.

HMRC has since apologised to Ms Azevedo and rectified its mistake.
Ms Azevedo: “I have no idea why it says 2015 on it. It’s their mistake, I’m quite sure.
“I got letters about 2014-15 years ago, and now they’ve sent me this. It should be (regarding tax credits for) 2022; it must be a mistake.

“When I got the letter, I asked my colleagues about it, who all said that it looked wrong, as well.
“I don’t know if I need to have my taxes checked now, or something.”
A spokesperson for HMRC said: “We incorrectly sent a letter to Ms Azevedo due to a system error.
“This issue has now been resolved and we apologise for any inconvenience caused.”
