COLWYN Bay have signed forward Gwion Dafydd on a season-long loan from Cymru Premier champions The New Saints.

The 19-year-old came through Caernarfon Town’s academy and played for the first team before a move to Saints in the summer of 2022.

He returned to Caernarfon on loan for the second half of last season and was also capped by Cymru C as they beat England in March.

Bay begin their pre-season friendly campaign on Saturday (June 29) when they host Llanrwst United at the 4 Crosses Construction Arena (kick-off 2pm).

“The preparation for the Llanrwst game is very much concentrating on ourselves,” Bay manager Mike Wilde said.

“All we’re looking to do with the lads is making sure they get minutes through the legs.

“It’s a cliché of pre-season but I think it’s vital as well.

“We’ve got a good base fitness now and we’ve had the ball out on numerous occasions in training but nothing can beat competitive football or pre-season friendlies.”

The Seagulls will begin their Cymru North season on Friday, July 26 when they host Bangor 1876 at the 4 Crosses Construction Arena.

They have been drawn at home to Cymru Premier side Aberystwyth Town in the second round of the Nathaniel MG Cup.
