COLWYN Bay face Aberystwyth Town at home in the JD Cymru Premier on Friday night having secured their first win of the season last Saturday.
Bay won 1-0 at Penybont, the side who finished third last season to qualify for Europe.
Steve Evans’ side put in an impressive, disciplined performance on a sweltering hot day and were rewarded with a winner 14 minutes from time
Steff Edwards’ cross was met at the far post by the head of captain Alex Downes, who scored his first goal of the season.
“The performance from every single one of the players was phenomenal,” Bay manager Steve Evans said.

“I’m lost for words a little bit because we know how well drilled Penybont are, I’d say they’re in the top three teams in the league.
“[The game] was a complete performance in terms of bodies on the line, defending – what you need to win games.”
The win sees the Seagulls move up to 10th in the Cymru Premier and they face bottom of the table Aberystwyth on Friday evening (Kick-Off: 7.45pm).
Aber are searching for their first league win of the season and lost 4-2 at home to Caernarfon Town last Saturday.
Colwyn Bay are expecting a big crowd for the game and spectators will be able to pay on the gate.
