A RENEWABLE energy firm based in Old Colwyn, St Asaph and Mochdre is to spread some Christmas cheer by donating presents to the children’s ward at two hospitals in North Wales this winter.

Carbon Zero Renewables will drop off the gifts to Ysbyty Glan Clwyd and Ysbyty Gwynedd on Wednesday, December 18, as part of an initiative it has organised for the fifth year running.

The firm is encouraging people to donate new toys or pyjamas, which can be left at its “drop-off point” of Unit 8, Old Creamery, Station Road, Mochdre (its hot tub showroom, open from 9am-5pm).

Gareth Jones, Carbon Zero's managing director, said: “We also run a hot tub business, so we’re going to fill two hot tubs with thousands of pounds’ worth of presents to give to the hospitals.

“We probably spend upwards of £1,000 ourselves on the toys; it’s just a nice thing to do. We’re very passionate about helping the community, and like to give back.

“My daughter has been in and out of hospital over the years, so I’m very thankful for the support they’ve given us.

“It’s just nice to put smiles on children’s faces. Nobody wants to be in hospital over Christmas.”
