A POPULAR restaurant and bar in Rhos-on-Sea has reopened following a major two-week refurbishment.

Hickory's Smokehouse, at Llandudno Road, reopened to the public this week after closing on November 4 for an extensive refresh.

The team have been busy behind the scenes, with new seating, a kitchen refit, and a new secluded bar space separate from the main dining area.

The refreshed bar is full of authentic Southern-style designs, inspired by more than 20 trips across the southern United States.

The restaurant has also added a new smoker – the Southern Pride smoker made it safely across the Atlantic from Alamo, Tennessee in time for the reopening.

Their popular cinema room has had its own refurbishment, so kids can enjoy a movie as grown-ups enjoy some good old-fashioned Southern hospitality.

Hickory’s' first smokehouse in Wales, it originally opened its doors in March 2014 and has become a cornerstone of the community ever since.

General manager Jonathan Arnison said: ‘We cannot wait to welcome guests back after our re-fresh.

"We have loved re-imagining our spaces and getting the place ready for more BBQ, sport and good times.

“We can’t wait to see what guests think of what we’ve done to the place.

"Hopefully we will see lots of familiar faces and we are looking forward to introducing all things BBQ to more guests.

"It’s great to be back doing what we love – looking after our guests and firing up the smokers."
