A LLANDUDNO-based author is set to release her latest book, inspired by environmental concerns affecting oceans and wildlife.

Lynne Morris will celebrate the launch of Gullivor the Hungry Seagull with a special event at Providero Coffeehouse, Mostyn Street, on December 5.

She said the book takes a “whimsical yet meaningful approach to an important issue”, and tells the story of Gullivor, a seagull who resorts to stealing food right out of the hands of unsuspecting tourists and residents.

He does this, Lynne said, because pollution, especially plastic waste, has made it increasingly difficult for him and other animals to find food in their natural habitats.

Lynne, owner of Llandudno-based creative company Mad Cow Designs, said she hopes that young readers can use the book to “learn about the impact of pollution on marine life in an engaging, accessible way”.

She added: “I believe it’s so important to engage young readers on this topic.

“With colourful illustrations and a narrative that blends humour with environmental awareness, Gullivor the Hungry Seagull aims to inspire children and adults alike to think more deeply about the choices we make and how they affect our planet.”

Lynne was the author and illustrator of the children’s book A Wild Goose Chase, which followed Lucy Goosey’s search for her missing egg, and she also featured on ITV’s The Pier, a four-part documentary on life at Llandudno Pier.
