A MAN from Llandudno Junction has been jailed after admitting drug-driving in Colwyn Bay earlier this year.
Daniel Peter Smith, 33, of Ronald Avenue, was sentenced to 10 weeks’ imprisonment at Llandudno Magistrates Court on (November 12), after he was stopped while driving his Vauxhall Astra on Greenfield Road.
He was stopped by an officer from North Wales Police’s Roads Crime Unit shortly after 9pm on February 25 due to driving at excess speed.
Smith then failed a roadside drugs test, after testing positive for cannabis - he was arrested and taken to custody, where further tests were carried out.
In addition, Smith was banned from driving for 34 months, and will pay a £154 surcharge.

PC Martin Done, of the Roads Crime Unit said: “Choosing to drive when impaired by drugs is dangerous and unacceptable.
“Even a small amount in your system can affect your ability to drive safely.
"We are committed to making the roads safer and have a robust strategy around enforcing the Fatal 5 offences which includes drug driving.
“We are on patrol 24/7 and make no apology for stopping motorists who are driving whilst under the influence of drink or drugs.
“With the festive season just around the corner, anyone who is considering driving whilst under the influence should know that we will be out waiting for them.
“We’ll continue to crack down on those who take this unnecessary risk and bring them before the courts.”
