A SALON in Colwyn Bay, which was put together in a matter of weeks in November 2023 celebrated its one-year anniversary in style last week.

Strands N Hands, at 135a Abergele Road, opened for business a year ago tomorrow (November 14).

Since then, it has expanded by taking on the premises next door and combining it into “one big salon”, and has started provided the popular Japanese spa treatment, not thought to be on offer anywhere else in North Wales.

Salon owner Zoe Walker said: “We had Bill Lewis, from iD Clinica, showcasing the newest skincare treatment - the bio spicule therapy. Bill also announced me as the brand ambassador for the whole of North Wales, which is a huge achievement!

“Every guest received a goodie bag, including business cards from local businesses around Colwyn Bay.

“We were extremely grateful to receive over 50 prizes towards our raffle from local businesses including Hickory's, Bay Gym, Bennetts Interiors and MyRepair UK, alongside many more.

“We raised £1,300 for (mental health organisation) Hold Your Ground, in memory of Aaron Newman, who tragically lost his life last December.

“Aaron’s sister, Olivia, and her dad, Phil, gave a speech during the event to talk about the cause, and how the money will be used to help change the stigma and taboo of mental illness.”
