THE FINISHING touches are being added to a coffee shop’s renovation of the Imperial Hotel in Colwyn Bay ahead of its grand opening.

Bobcats Coffee is set to open at Unit 1 of the Grade II listed building, and will provide “high quality” coffee and food in what will be a “cosy and welcoming” café.

The business, owned by 20-year-old Jack Stott, will offer homemade toasties, sandwiches, pastries and sweet treats.

“I’m excited to bring new life to this historic location and share our love for great coffee with the community,” Jack told The Pioneer.

“We’re a coffee shop dedicated to providing fresh, high-quality coffee and food in a cosy and welcoming setting.

“Our menu includes a range of homemade toasties, sandwiches, soups, cakes, and pastries, all prepared fresh daily.

“We aim to be a friendly spot where everyone—pets included—feels right at home.”

The Imperial Hotel site was purchased by a London-based property developer last year, with plans for both retail and residential units.

The site has been in a state of disuse for more than ten years, and dates back to around 1880, when it was constructed as part of the town’s development as a seaside holiday resort.

Built in the French renaissance style, it has a steeply pitched slate roof, decorative ridge tiles and gabled dormers with finials.

Once a hub of the town centre, the Imperial has laid empty since 2010, when it was put up for sale – Bobcats Coffee’s opening is just the first step in bringing the building back to life.
