Veterans in Conwy have created a mosaic to be displayed at a remembrance service.

The work of art, titled 'Lest We Forget,' was made just in time for Remembrance Sunday.

It is the product of a collaboration between the Veterans Art Club, Wintergreen CIC, and Alabaré Homes for Veterans Cymru.

It will be displayed at St Paul’s Church, Colwyn Bay, for the Remembrance Service at 9.45am on Sunday, November 10.

The mosaic was unveiled at a ceremony at Alabaré Homes for Veterans Cymru, during which a new garden space for veterans in supported housing was also opened.

The project manager at Wintergreen CIC said: "This inspiring work represents hours of quality talking and engagement.

"Each hand-cut mosaic piece tells the story of our veterans attending Veterans Art Club.

"We are looking forward to sharing veterans’ art with the community."

The artwork is intended as a tribute to the sacrifices made by servicemen and women and is the realisation of an idea from the veterans at the start of the year.

The service manager for Alabaré Homes for Veterans Cymru said: "The weekly art club is empathically and warmly facilitated.

"Clients can focus on particular tasks to develop ideas and objectives to create artistic pieces of their choosing.

"This in turn promotes self-confidence, social skills, and personal development.

"It gives the clients a real sense of pride.

"The relaxed talking space is key.

"The art club is in its second year and is an intrinsic piece of weekly work that we could not do without now."

One veteran described the regular sessions, saying: "I’m not one for words but this project has meant the world to me."

The project was supported by The Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust.

The mosaic will go on tour to inspire and educate future generations.
