MORE than 1,000 school pupils across Llandudno submitted entries for the Lions Club Peace Poster competition - with the top three going forward to the regional finals.

Pupils were tasked with creating a poster around the theme of 'Peace Without Limits' by Lions Club of Llandudno youth coordinator John Chambers. He toured schools giving out copies of Ellie Jackson's children's books exploring environmental themes and setting the task of exploring the idea of peace and what it means to children today amid turbulent times.

Entries were gathered from 11 schools - Ysgol Tudno, Ysgol San Sior, Ysgol Bodafon, Ysgol Blessed William Davies, Ysgol Morfa Rhianedd, Ysgol Dyffryn Road, Ysgol Craig y Don, Ysgol Glanwydden, Ysgol Llandrillo yn Rhos, Ysgol Deganwy and Ysgol Gogarth.

Lions Club President Tim Faulkner was joined by the Mayor and Mayoress of Llandudno Cllr Michael Pearce and Lindsay Pearce at Llandudno Library to select a winner and runner-up from each school, then decide the overall top three for the town.

Each of the winners will now be entered into the regional stage - where they will be judged against entries from across North West England and North Wales.

"With so many entries it took some time to select the winners," said Tim. "There is an awful lot of talent in these pictures and many different styles of art were entered.

"Each winner will be awarded a WH Smith voucher donated by the Lions Club of Llandudno."
