A PROPERTY on a new housing estate in Llandudno which is being advertised on Airbnb does not require planning permission or consent for this type of use.

A home on the newly-built Parc Bodafon estate is being advertised on Airbnb, and is being promoted on the website as a “beach side family rest and holiday”.

The property owner said the fully detached, four-bedroom house has space for up to 12 guests.

When news emerged of its use as a holiday let, Aberconwy MS Janet-Finch Saunders labelled the news “very disappointing”.

Anwyl Homes, who built the estate, said there were “no planning conditions controlling how our homeowners use their own properties”.

The property’s use as an Airbnb had been met with criticism from some residents, who called for the homes to be used for those who need them.

The home builder added that 17 homes on the estate, of which 13 are complete, were affordable ones in accordance with the council’s Affordable Housing Policy.

Phil Dolan, chief operating officer for Anwyl Homes, said: “In line with the planning consent issued by Conwy County Council, this property was a freehold sale, sold on the open market.

“There are no planning conditions controlling how our homeowners use their own properties.

“This development offers a wide range of homes from one to five bedrooms to suit different needs and requirements.

“Alongside the 32 open market properties, we are building 17 affordable homes on site, which represents 35 per cent of the total properties in accordance with the council’s Affordable Housing Policy.

“13 of these affordable homes have already been built and transferred to the Housing Association.”
