THE POST Office branch in Glan Conwy is set to close following the resignation of the postmaster.
In a letter to customers, The Post Office said the “unplanned” closure was due to the postmaster’s resignation, and the subsequent withdrawal of the premises for Post Office use.
The branch, at Sefton House, Llanrwst Road, will close at 3.30pm on Thursday, 3 October.
The Post Office said that it was not looking to replace the branch following a “comprehensive” review of the network, and apologised for the inconvenience the move caused.
Carol Williams, area change manager for The Post Office, said: “We are writing to inform you that, regrettably, following the resignation of the postmaster and the withdrawal of the premises for Post Office use, the above branch will be closing on Thursday 3 October 2024 at 15:30.
“The Post Office has undertaken a comprehensive review of the network to ensure that it continues to meet evolving customer needs in a very challenging economic climate.

“At this time, therefore, we are not looking to replace Glan Conwy Post Office.
“We apologise for the inconvenience the closure may cause.”
A petition has been launched by Mathew James Creamer to preserve the Post Office presence in the town.
Mr Creamer, who owns convenience store Siop Bach, wishes to relocate the Post Office to his business, and has launched an online petition.
Set a target of 1,000 signatures, the petition aims to support an application the business has submitted to the Post Office’s planning department.
Mr Creamer said: “As many may be aware, the Post Office in Glan Conwy is closing at the beginning of October.
“Since the previous service was only open for four hours a week, it was determined that Glan Conwy does not require a new Post Office.
“We believe our community deserves better, and we've submitted an application to bring a Post Office to the shop.
“With the overwhelming response from the great community of Glan Conwy in regards to moving the Post Office to Siop Bach we have made an online petition.
“To strengthen our case, we need around 1,000 emails and signatures.
“Without enough support, the nearest Post Office will be in Llandudno Junction.”
