A GRADE II listed former church building in Llandudno was withdrawn from auction for the second time yesterday (September 26).
The old Christ Church Congregational Chapel building, on Llewelyn Avenue, was originally set to go to online auction with Town & Country Property Auctions on August 29, but was later withdrawn.
The site, set a freehold guide price of £125,000 with additional fees, was given another auction date for 5.30pm yesterday, but was again withdrawn with its listing postponed.
It remains to be seen if the building will be allocated another auction slot at a later date.
The former church building was built in 1858 and modified with the addition of transepts in 1863.
The chapel was designed by London-based architect Joseph James and built in the Gothic style with a short-wall entry plan, integral tower and spire (which was lost during the 1970s).
It was converted into a children’s play centre and day nursery up to 15 years ago.
Christ Church is currently let under a 10-year lease that began in October 2023, with provision for a rent review at the end of the lease’s fifth year.
Described by the auctioneer as a “superb opportunity”, the building is located at the junction of Llewelyn Avenue and Abbey Road, not far from the seafront.
