A TAKEAWAY in Llandudno which was given a food hygiene rating of one was found to have no food safety management procedures.

Habibi Kebab House/Habibi Fast Food, at 133A Mostyn Street, was given a one-out-of-five score following assessment on June 5.

The Food Standards Agency had rated its management of food safety ‘major improvement necessary’, with its hygienic food handling rated ‘generally satisfactory’.

A Freedom of Information (FOI) request to Conwy County Borough Council revealed the takeaway had no surface sanitiser or disinfectant at the premises at the time of the inspection.

The inspection report noted that “a spray bottle of Clean Pro + was obtained from your neighbouring business once noted, however it is concerning”.

The hygiene inspector also noted the likelihood of contamination related to chicken donner meat, with concerns raised about raw chicken juices falling into a drip tray and contaminating surfaces.

The report advised the use of a kebab catcher to catch shaved meat.

There were also a concern related to a fall hazard at the site, with the report stating the business had a “poor appreciation of hazards and control measures, no food safety management procedures” and “some reluctance in recognising or accepting the need for food safety and hygiene control procedures.”

Allergen information was not provided, with the report adding: “Allergen information relating to marinades for shish kebabs, pizza bases, pizza toppings etc. were not readily available.

“There was no evidence to confirm that your staff members have undertaken allergen management training.”

Habibi Kebab House was approached for comment.
