A STRICKEN yacht had to be recovered by lifeboat crews from Conwy and Llandudno after breaking down in stormy conditions.
Conwy Lifeboat's May-Bob inshore lifeboat was initially deployed with a crew of four to assist the 27-foot yacht, which experienced engine failure near the Fairway Buoy in the middle of Conwy Bay on Monday.
After a number of unsuccessful attempts to start the engine and following discussions with HM Coastguard about the challenges posed by the ebbing tide, Conwy Lifeboat crew called in support from their volunteer colleagues in Llandudno.
Their all-weather Shannon Class lifeboat was able to ensure the yacht was towed safely to marker C16, where Conwy Lifeboat took over and towed the yacht to the safe haven of Conwy Mariners' outer pontoon.
