THE OWNERS of the Grand Hotel in Llandudno are set to invest £3million into renovating the landmark.

The once grand establishment has received heavy criticism in recent years, with the hotel the worst-rated in the town on TripAdvisor.

The hotel was bought by Britannia Hotels in 2004, and since then has entered a significant slump.

However, Aberconwy MS Janet Finch-Saunders said she had been told the hotel chain had already invested heavily in the site, with plans to spend a further £3million on the exterior of the Grand next year.

Mrs Finch-Saunders said she had been corresponding with Britannia Hotels, and recently undertook a site visit senior operations manager Bob Down, area manager hotels and holiday parks Helen Reece, and director of operations Lee Jones.

“The Grand Hotel is turning a corner, and I am proud to be the first to stand up and congratulate all involved in the massive investment being made on what is an exciting journey for the establishment, our town, and region.

“I’m looking forward to seeing the refurbished balconies, and hosting an event at the hotel in due course.”
