NORTH Wales Labour MPs have supported the Government's plan to end the Winter Fuel Allowance for pensioners.
In the run-up to the vote there had been passionate pleas from campaigners opposed to the scheme for MPs to reconsider and look at alternative plans amid fears some vulnerable pensioners could struggle to pay their heating bills this winter.
The Government had defended its plans, stating that it was a 'tough decision' that was necessary due to a £22 billion hole in the public finances.
MPs voted on whether to end the Winter Fuel Payments in the House of Commons on Tuesday afternoon.
Labour MPs Becky Gittins (Clwyd East), Gill German (Clwyd North) and Claire Hughes (Bangor Aberconwy) all supported Kier Starmer's plan.
Plaid Cymru MPs Llinos Medi (Ynys Môn) and Liz Saville Roberts (Dwyfor Meirionnydd) voted against the proposal, but it was carried 348 votes to 228.
