A PHARMACY in Rhos-on-Sea has re-opened temporarily in a cabin after its premises suffered fire damage last month.

An accidental fire, believed to have been caused by an electrical fault, broke out at Rowlands Pharmacy, on Rhos Road, on the evening of August 21, resulting in 25 per cent fire damage and 95 per cent heat damage.

The pharmacy said that, while all members of staff and residents of the flats above its premises were unharmed, the fire caused "considerable damage" to the site.

Today (September 2), Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board confirmed that, for the time being, the pharmacy is operating from a portacabin.

A health board statement read: “Following the recent fire, the Rowlands Pharmacy service in Rhos-on-Sea has reopened temporarily in a cabin, located right outside the damaged premises.

“As the phone and broadband connections were damaged, it has taken a bit longer than planned to get back up and running.

“Unfortunately, everything was lost in the fire and we kindly ask for your patience whilst the team works hard to reorder and restock.

“Due to the limited supply of medicines, processing prescriptions may take a bit longer and if you need medication urgently, please inform the team at the earliest opportunity.

“The pharmacy ordering system was also lost in the fire, therefore if the team usually handle your repeat prescriptions, please contact them seven days before you need them.

“Thank you for your understanding and support.”

The pharmacy’s normal opening hours will continue while it is based in the portacabin.
