ST DAVID’S College in Llandudno has reported another excellent set of A-Level and BTEC Level 3 results from its Year 13 group.
Pupils achieved a 97 per cent pass rate across all Level 3 qualifications with nearly three-quarters of grades at A*-C or Distinction*-Merit and 42% of grades awarded A*-A or Distinction*-Distinction.
The Sport BTEC L3 National Diploma delivered outstanding results with 89 per cent of pupils achieving double distinction (DD) or higher.
Six of those pupils will be now be studying sport-related degrees at universities such as Cardiff Metropolitan University, Anglia Ruskin University and Manchester Metropolitan University.
Amongst the stand-out performers across other subjects were Edwin Thompson, who achieved grade A in both Chemistry and Physics - adding to the grade A Mathematics A-level and the Distinction* in BTEC Sport and Outdoor Activities that he attained last year – and who will be starting at the University of Nottingham this autumn to study Physics and Astronomy.
Head Boy Scott Hewitt achieved a Distinction in BTEC Enterprise and Entrepreneurship as well as grade A Design and Technology A-level and grade B Geography A-level. He is taking a gap year to gain work experience before applying for apprenticeship positions in Project Management in 2025.
Oliver Chandran has secured a place at the University of York after achieving a Distinction in BTEC Enterprise and Entrepreneurship as well as grade A Design and Technology A-level and grade A Geography A-level.
And a special mention to Thomas Barclay, a Year 12 pupil who took his A-level Mathematics a year early and has achieved grade A*.

“It’s a huge validation of the hard work the staff put in to nurturing and promoting our pupils’ abilities - and of the incredible talent of our pupils – to achieve beyond their expectations.”
