RESIDENTS are concerned a football club planning to sell alcohol later will cause a public nuisance.
Conwy’s licensing sub-committee will meet this week at Bodlondeb to discuss an application by Colwyn Bay Football Club to sell alcohol and play music later.
The Llanelian Road-based club want to be allowed to play amplified live and recorded music indoors from 11 am until 11 pm Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays.
The club has also applied for permission for the music licence to continue until 1 am on Friday and Saturday nights.

If granted, the new licence would also allow the club to host dance performances until 11 pm or 1 am, the same as the hours specified above.
The new licence would allow the club to provide refreshments from 11 am until 11 pm seven days a week and sell booze between 11 am and 11 pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays.
The club has applied for permission to sell alcohol from 11 am until 1 am on Fridays, Saturdays, and bank holidays.
‘The Seagulls’ have also applied for permission to provide ‘adult entertainment’ from 11 am till 11.30 pm and until 1.30 am on Friday and Saturday nights and bank holidays.
But some residents aren’t happy about the new plans.

The club currently has various restrictions on its licence but can only serve booze between 6 pm and 11 pm Monday to Friday; between 12 pm and 11 pm Saturdays; and 12 pm until 6 pm on Sundays.
One objector, CR Kelly. sent a letter to Conwy objecting to the plans: “I object most strongly to this application. Already when they have these events, the thumping music goes on until 11.50 pm.
“Then there are the noisy exits, car doors slamming, and noisy farewells. Also, the premises are a cabin, which, as I understand, gets very hot inside, so the backdoor is opened and the noise to local houses is even louder.”
A G Angus wrote: “Any increase in the licensing hours will cause further noise into the early hours when most people will be trying to sleep.
“This is a quiet area, and the sound of loud music, loud voices, and the banging of car doors is distressing and already disturbs our evenings. To extend this noise nuisance is unacceptable.”
Janet Angus added: “The social club is in proximity to residential properties, and the noise of loud music, shouting, and laughing can already be heard, particularly when windows are left open. There is also the noise of car doors banging and cars leaving the car park that is a noise nuisance.”
Arfon Jones also wrote a letter of objection to the council.
Mr Jones said he was very supportive of Colwyn Bay Football Club and appreciated the ‘valuable work’ the club did in the community but objected to the plans.
He said: “Before making any decisions to approve the application, you should consider that the residents are paying the taxes to the council, to live here without having to suffer from any interruptions which could cause negative side effects and cause any concerns to their way of living.”
The licensing sub-committee is due to discuss the matter on Thursday (August 8).
