A WOMAN who opened a beauty and sports massage salon in Colwyn Bay a year ago is to mark its first anniversary with a special event.
Trish Zulu, originally from Zambia, opened Ulemu on Greenfield Road at the start of last August, having been self-employed in the industry for more than seven years prior.
To celebrate a year of the salon being open, it will host a fundraiser event on Saturday (August 3), from 2-6pm.

The party and fundraiser event will be in support of WaterAid, a cause which Trish said is “close to my heart due to their incredible work in Africa and worldwide”.
Trish moved to the UK from Zambia in August 1998 when she was 13.
After working in care for several years, she trained in sports and massage therapy, and began her career at Bodysgallen Hall.
Eventually, she ventured into business on her own, renting premises before getting the opportunity to purchase her salon on Greenfield Road.
A refurbishment grant from Conwy County Borough Council helped her restore the property, while preserving its original character.
She said: “The support from the council officers was invaluable during this challenging project.
“We opened Ulemu Hair, Beauty & Sports Massage last year, and despite the tough times, we've been thriving.
“I specialise in sports massage and work with a team of five self-employed professionals specialising in hair, nails, Botox, massage, and facials.
The fundraiser will feature food, drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic), and a unique charity waxing event.
Trish is hoping to raise at least £2,500 for WaterAid through the event (www.justgiving.com/page/ulemu-beauty-1719315012745).
She added: “We have volunteers ready to be waxed by anyone willing to donate £5 for two waxing strips.
“It’s going to be entertaining, especially with amateur hands at work! Our official fundraising goal is £2,500, but I’m hopeful we can exceed it.”
