JOHNNY DOUGH'S has said its team in Conwy have worked "tirelessly" since the restaurant was given a food hygiene rating of one earlier this year.
Johnny Doughs at the Bridge, Rose Hill Street, was given a one-out-of-five score after an inspection on March 7.
The report into the business rated its hygienic food handling and the cleanliness and condition of its facilities and building 'improvement necessary'.
Its management of food safety was rated 'major improvement necessary'.
Management of food safety refers to the system or checks in place to ensure that food sold or served is safe to eat, evidence that staff know about food safety, and the confidence the food safety officer has that standards will be maintained in future.
A spokesperson for Johnny Dough's said that the inspection was seven months ago - although the Food Standards Agency website says it was March 7, 2024 - and they expect to achieve a five-star rating when next inspected.
They said: "At the time of the inspection the company was undergoing a full restructure which caused a degree of confusion and lapse with management procedures.

"However, I am delighted to say that the new team has worked tirelessly and we fully expect to return to our usual five star rating.
They added: "I would encourage locals and visitors alike to make up their own minds on the quality of an establishment and to that end we are more than happy to spend time and talk directly to those who want to know more."
A reported previously by The Pioneer, the company's three other outlets in Llandudno, Colwyn Bay and Rhos-on-Sea scored between 4 and 5, which the spokesman added "is a better indicator of the quality of our operation".
Food hygiene ratings are publicly available on the Food Standards Agency website and must be displayed prominently as "scores on the doors" by rated businesses.
The Pioneer publishes all Food Standards Agency ratings in Conwy county and makes every effort to contact businesses scoring a 0 or 1 an opportunity to reply.
