THE CONSTRUCTION of a glamping site in Llandudno has been given a final green light, months after plans were initially approved.

An application was made to Conwy County Council’s planning department in February for glamping changes to the Bodafon Hall site on Bodafon Road, Craigside.

The proposal, by applicant Ms A. Carri, sought partly retrospective planning permission for a wooden glamping pod, a yurt, wood-fired hot tub, decking area, and a toilet.

Both applications were backed by the council's planning committee, but have now been given a final go-ahead.

This was granted under several conditions, including the developments not being used as a permanent residence and only for holidays, and compliance with ecology and biodiversity policies.

The decision also stipulates that clearance and construction work at the site only be undertaken from 8am-6pm Monday-Friday and 8am-1pm on Saturdays.

The development is also required to adhere to the submitted parking plan, which has faced criticism, and compliance with foul and waste water drainage policy.

The glamping pod, which was already part built, lies in woodland to the north-east of the Grade-II listed building.

The woodland includes protected trees, with the yurt, which had been there for a “while”, also lying within the hall’s grounds.

Residents living nearby objected to the plans and signed a petition, with particular criticism related to parking at the site.

Wilfred and Nora Talbot said the proposal is "detrimental", and would "spoilt the aesthetics of the hall".
