Eight Grŵp Llandrillo Menai students have progressed to the WorldSkills UK national finals.

They made it into the top eight in their respective categories nationally.

Evan Klimaszewski, who qualified for the finals last year, is heading to the UK finals once again.

He is joined by Lucas Jackson, Sion Elias, and Peter Jenkins, all from Coleg Menai.

Mr Klimaszewski will be competing in the Industrial Electronics category, while Mr Elias and Mr Jenkins will participate in Industrial Robotics, and Mr Jackson in CNC Milling.

Hair and beauty student from Coleg Llandrillo, Heather Wynne of Old Colwyn, also secured her spot in the finals.

She earned first place in the regional hairdressing qualifier in Manchester.

Ms Wynne said: "I’m delighted to have made the final eight for WorldSkills UK.

"I know I have a lot of hard work to do practising and preparing for the finals in November."

Three learners from Busnes@LlandrilloMenai, Clare Sharples, Carwyn Littlewood and Lauren Harrap-Tyson, made the finals as well.

They are studying accountancy and will contest in the accountancy technician category.

"This is testament to the hard work and dedication of our learners, and also to the high-quality education they are receiving through Grŵp Llandrillo Menai.

"We wish them the best of luck in the national finals in November."

The UK finals are due to take place across Greater Manchester from November 19-22.

Whoever wins will have the opportunity to represent the UK at the ‘Skills Olympics’ in Shanghai, China, in 2026.

The finalists and prize-winners will receive their honours at a ceremony in Manchester’s Bridgewater Hall on November 22.
