A BINGO HALL and social club in the heart of Conwy town has gone on the market for the first time in more than 50 years.

Palace Bingo and Social Club, at 10 High Street, has been put up for sale for a freehold price of £800,000 with estate agent St David's Commercial.

The building was constructed in 1935 based on designs by Colwyn Bay-based Sidney Colwyn Foulkes of Colwyn Bay, and was originally the Palace Cinema.

The building accommodates two small shops, an award-winning restaurant, The Jackdaw, and an auditorium space.

The Palace Cinema began to host concerts, theatre shows and bingo in the 1970s, with film screenings ending in the early 1980s.

Thereafter, the auditorium was used almost exclusively for bingo games, which in turn ceased between late 2012 and early 2013, after which this part of the building remained vacant.

But with the building on the market once more, there is great potential for the site to come into use once again.

The estate agent said of the listing: "This fantastic property has been in ownership by the same family since 1972 and it is the first time on the open market for over 50 years."
