North Wales' only children's hospice is set to benefit from a model train summer fun day at the seaside.

On August 10, the North Wales Model Engineering Society (NWMES) will host a fundraising event featuring miniature steam and electric train rides at their track on Llandudno’s West Shore beach.

The event will be on from 11am to 4pm, with profits donated to Hope House Tŷ Gobaith.

Frank Simpson of NWMES said: "I’ve ordered the good weather and we’re looking forward to a great day where we can provide many rides to children and families whilst supporting this wonderful local cause.

"We’ll have both steam and electric locos out during the day as well as members’ models for the public to see.

"We’ve some new picnic tables for people to use and watch the rides and views from plus our new halt signs will be up."

With more than 70 members, the NWMES has built its site on Llandudno's West Shore into a lovely attraction.

Hope House's Fundraising team leader, Andy Everley, said: "We're very grateful to Frank and the team for once again thinking of us with their charity day.

"We hope many visitors and locals will come to enjoy this family friendly attraction and make the day a great success.

“Every penny raised on the day will help us on our mission to reach every child and family that need our care, respite, physiotherapy and counselling services."
