THE COUNCIL has explained why there have been no Access All Eirias concerts this year, with no timeline for its return.

Concerts at Eirias Park in Colwyn Bay were incredibly popular, with acts such as Elton John, Tom Jones and Little Mix just some of the big names to perform in the arena.

Despite the stadium being owned by Conwy County Borough Council, the popular events were organised by Orchard Live.

However, the company ceased trading last year, citing an inability to recover from the "consequences" of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Subsequently, the "difficult" decision was made to enter voluntary liquidation.

A spokesperson for Orchard Live said: "Despite the best efforts of a very talented team, Orchard Live has been unable to recover from the consequences of the pandemic, and, after exploring all possible strategies to avoid this action, has made the difficult decision to put Orchard Live into creditors voluntary liquidation."

Since then, no new promoter has come forward, with the council saying it is actively promoting the stadium for the return of concerts.

A Conwy County Borough Council spokesperson said: "The Access All Eirias concerts at Parc Eirias were organised by concert promoters Orchard Live.

"Conwy County Borough Council was one of the sponsors.

"Unfortunately, Orchard Live ceased trading last year.

"We have taken advantage of the downtime to refurbish the athletics track at the stadium, which is currently underway.

"Going forward, the stadium and events centre are available for hire to promoters and event organisers, and we will continue to actively promote the centre to relevant organisations."

Access All Eirias acts last year included singers Rag’n’Bone Man, Josh Barry and Lily Moore, pop/hip-hop trio N-Dubz, and a Ministry of Sound night.
