A COUPLE’s visit to Llandudno was a memorable one when one got down on one knee to propose in front of the crowds.

Val Peloe and her fiancé Alan Dawson, from Liverpool, visited the town for the second time together last weekend.

Llandudno is a “special place” for Val, with Llandudno bringing back happy memories of her father who “loved” the town.

The couple, who have been together since January, were soaking up the sights on the town’s famous pier when Alan got down on one knee to Amy Winehouse’s version of Valerie – an aptly named song.

Thankfully, a shocked Val, who said she “wasn’t expecting him to do that at all”, said yes.

Val told the Pioneer: “Llandudno is a special place for me as it’s memories of my dad and he absolutely loved it there.

“It was mine and Alan's second weekend away there - we love it, if we could live there we would.

“I wasn't expecting him to do that at all - I thought he was trying to get me up to dance to a song called Valerie by Amy Winehouse.

"They come out with a bottle of prosecco for us and it was lovely to have a lot of lovely people round for our special time/

"They were all coming over to congratulate us and clapping, really made my day.

"I will never ever forget it. We're planning on getting married next year, I would love it to be in Llandudno.

"The happiest day of my life until next year."

Llandudno Pier said of the engagement: “He got down on one knee to the sound of “Valerie” in the background………… and she said YES.

“Congratulations to Alan and Val.”
