A man from Llanfairfechan has been jailed after walking into a woman’s home uninvited and sexually assaulting her while she slept.
Ian Wynne Williams, 49, of Mount Road, Llanfairfechan intruded into the woman’s home and took off his clothes before getting into her bed.
He appeared at Caernarfon Crown Court on July 8, after he was found guilty of sexual assault and knowingly trespassing with intent to commit a sex offence.
The incident happened in December 2022 when the woman was suddenly awoken to someone cuddling her from behind.
She screamed, alerting her son, who forced Williams out of the house.
He was jailed for an extended period of 10 years.
He also received an indefinite restraining order not to contact the victim.
Detective Constable Jennifer Williams said: “This was an extremely terrifying incident that happened in the victim’s own home as she slept.
“This was a total violation of her safety which has had an enormous impact on her life.
“She has been incredibly brave throughout this investigation, and I hope the sentence provides her with the reassurance that Williams can no longer harm any more women.
“I urge anyone who has experienced sexual assault to come forward and seek support. We will listen and pursue offenders.”
