WREXHAM AFC's co-chairman sent a birthday message to a club legend.

Mochdre-born Mickey Thomas celebrated his 70th birthday on July 7 and to honour the milestone, Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney sent the Reds hero a special message.

The BBC posted a video of the Hollywood stars sending a personal message to Mickey as he celebrates turning 70.

In his playing days, winger Mickey famously scored the equaliser with a superb free-kick when Wrexham, then of the fourth tier, knocked out league champions Arsenal in the 1992 FA Cup third round.

He went on to make almost 300 appearances in two spells at The Racecourse and was a member of the famous 1977/78 promotion winning side.

He made his final appearance for Wrexham as a 38-year-old in 1993.

Mickey also played for Everton, Brighton, Stoke, Chelsea, West Brom, Derby, Shrewsbury and Leeds.

He won 51 caps for Wales and spent three years at Manchester United between 1978 and 1981, making over 100 appearances for the Red Devils while being a huge fans’ favourite.

In the video posted by the BBC, Ryan said: "This message is for Mickey Thomas. Mickey, it's Ryan. I know you know that I know who you are. Happy birthday buddy.

"This town owes you a debt of gratitude. I owe you a debt of gratitude. You're a huge pillar in what is the Wrexham legacy. Tons of love. Happy birthday to you."

Rob added: "Mickey! Legend. Happy birthday man, happy 70th birthday. It's amazing, you look fantastic. See you soon."
