A SCHOOL in Llandudno has unveiled its new community garden.

Ysgol Y Gogarth hopes for the garden to be a “vibrant green space that has been a labour of love for students, staff, and families alike”.

The garden is now full of colourful flowers and a variety of fruit and vegetables, and not only enhances the school's environment, but also serves as a practical educational tool.

Students will have the opportunity to learn about gardening, sustainability, and the importance of caring for nature.

In the future, the school hopes the community garden can also be a food-growing hub, to help feed those who are less fortunate.

Additionally, it could serve as a sensory or wellbeing garden that offers a place of respite, relaxation, and reflection.

The garden also features a memorial picnic bench dedicated to its late school governor, David Rowley, who died last year.

His family, friends, and members of The Llandudno Lions Club attended the opening ceremony.

Angharad Williams, who is in charge of family and community engagement at the school, said: “We couldn’t be more thrilled with how the garden has turned out.

“It’s a beautiful addition to our school and a wonderful example of what we can achieve when we come together as a community.

“We are incredibly grateful to everyone who took time out of their day to help make this dream a reality.”
