THE COSTA Coffee in Colwyn Bay is to shut this weekend, with staff informing members of the public of the imminent closure.

The outlet, at BayView Shopping Centre, looks set to close this Sunday (June 16).

The decision is yet another loss of business in the town, with Subway, Costcutter, Boots, HSBC and several other closing in recent years.

Closure of Colwyn Bay's Costa has been met with criticism by residents, with one saying the town could "end up like Bangor" - "completely dead".

Another said the closure was a "real shame", with fears that there will soon be no shops or cafes in the town.

Others said they were "not surprised", with the shopping centre seeing the closure of several stores.

The Costa in Ruthin is also set to close on Sunday, with a note from "heartbroken" staff informing customers the store would close indefinitely.

Costa Coffee was approached for comment.
